Welcome to Grangewood Online, thankyou for browsing our site

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to our school website.

Grangewood Independent School was founded in 1979. A co-educational school for children aged three to eleven years situated in the east end of London.

Our aim is to instil a sense of respect and discipline, develop excellence in academia and nurture the reverence of God in our children. Teaching and learning take place in small class sizes to ensure that our children have individual attention and the teachers develop a good understanding of the children's interests.

The best interest of our children is always at the centre of what we do. Our children are happy, confident and establish lasting relationships in a peaceful atmosphere.

We work closely with parents to identify gifts and talents in children and help them reach their full potential. We cherish the support of our Parents’ Association.

All subjects of the National Curriculum are covered by our experienced and dedicated teaching staff and our children achieve levels above that expected for their age in Literacy, Mathematics and Science. We offer French across the board and Latin to the older children. Our older children compete in the Annual Newham Swimming Gala and have recently joined Newham’s Basketball League. Our peripatetic teachers provide lessons in musical instruments.

Our range of extra-curricular activities provides fun learning opportunities and development for our children in sports, music, art and literature. Parents have the option of using our after school care provision having the peace of mind that their children are engaged in constructive play in a safe environment.

There is an interactive ICT provision in each class for whole class use and we are in the process of setting up an innovative ICT and library suite.

We cater for the whole person and provide for our children’s spiritual development through our RE lessons, Christian assemblies and the promotion of our fundamental Christian ethos. Nonetheless, we welcome children of other faiths.

After Grangewood most of our children gain entrance to independent and state grammar schools whilst some move on to the more popular state secondary schools.

Do take time to navigate our website. You are most welcome to contact me to arrange a visit to our school.

Best wishes
